Measuring and controlling the temperature profile in the older rotary kilns is desirable for optimized operation. In addition to "unravelling" the temperature signal from the kiln, the Rotary Kiln De-Multiplexer has several internal registers which are accessible via the serial interface providing a range of alternate functions which are generally not used. One such function is the time in seconds per kiln revolution. An existing product, the Programmable Signal Transmitter, was modified to access this kiln rotation time using RS485 to produce an analogue output proportional to kiln speed. Typical rotation times are from 60 to 300 seconds - that is around 0.2 to 1 rpm. The new product, now called the Rotary Kiln Speed Transmitter, produces a 4 to 20 mA output proportional to kiln speed. At 0.2 rpm (300 seconds per revolution) the output is 4 mA and at 1 rpm (300 seconds) the output is 20 mA. Product Details...

Sixteen 0 - 20 mA, 4 - 20 mA or 0 - 5 V, 1 - 5 V or 0 - 10 V outputs. Output scaling from 0 to 1350șC (typically 4 mA = 0șC, 20 mA = 1350șC). Output accuracy better than ±0.1% (±1.4șC). Each output galvanically isolated from the communications link. Product Details...
Sixteen type K thermocouple inputs, 15 fixed-point and one roving. Measurement range from 0 to 1350șC. Output accuracy better than ±0.1% (±1.4șC). Each input galvanically isolated from the power supply and the communications link. Accurate calibration and operation - 24 bit analogue to digital conversion. Internal temperature sensing and cold junction compensation for each input. Can be used to interface to other I/O modules on the kiln for other measurements and controls. Internal operating temperature 0 to 70șC. 90 to 260 VAC power supply at 1 A or less. Input surge 10 A. All internal components DIN rail mounted modules. Lightening protection on the power input and communications link. Product Details...
The Kiln Temperature De-Multiplexer has been designed to work with the older type of rotary kilns which have a single transmitter and multiple thermocouples which are mechanically connected to the transmitter when they reach the lowest point in the kiln's rotation. A switch closure indicates that the next thermocouple has been connected and the 4 to 20 mA output represents a valid temperature. At this point the current output is latched until the next switch closure is detected - when the next thermocouple is connected to the transmitter.
The Kiln Temperature De-Multiplexer keeps track of the switch closures and produces twelve 4 to 20 mA output signals, one for each thermocouple which can then be connected to a standard 12 pen chart recorder. Product Details...
The kilnStar Temperature Monitoring System has been developed out of our experience over the past eight years in the development and maintenance of a kiln temperature transmitter system. It provides a means for transmitting twelve "fixed-point" temperatures and one "roving" temperature measurement off the kiln. Product Details...
