This monitoring system has been designed to try and predict the failure of any particular motor of a bank of 300 motors in a steel plant.
The three phase 550 VAC 25 A motors are controlled by linked frequency inverters which produce a high harmonic content current.
The currents for each motor are logged and a 'work' trend can be established for each motor.
Deviations outside the working envelope can be flagged and a maintenance report produced. In the case of a large deviation an alarm can be issued and preventative action taken.
